When I first learned about the Middle East in the geography class of my primary school back in my native England, little did I think I'd ever live there.
But since 1977 it's been where I call home - first Bahrain and then Egypt.
My Egyptian-born husband who hadn't lived in the country for 32 years couldn't cope with overcrowded Cairo on a permanent basis and neither could I, however much fun it is to visit.
Instead we found ourselves a "niche on the beach" 180 kilometres away on the Gulf of Suez where we currently live.
